The Winter Session of Parliament begins today, November 25, and will run until December 20. During this session, the government will introduce five new bills, including three significant ones related to the shipping sector: Coastal Shipping Bill, Indian Ports Bill, and Merchant Shipping Bill. These bills are expected to play a crucial role in the development of Indian shipping.
Among the 13 previously listed bills, the Banking Law Amendment Bill and the Waqf Bill are notable inclusions. The Banking Law Amendment Bill 2024 aims to allow account holders to nominate up to four successors for their accounts.
On November 26, Constitution Day will be celebrated, marking the 75th year of the adoption of the Indian Constitution. A special ceremony will be held in the Central Hall of Parliament.
Meanwhile, the opposition is expected to raise issues such as the Adani controversy, ethnic violence in Manipur, and rising pollution levels in North India.
